Collecting: brass tiebacks

So often, it’s the small details that make the biggest difference; indeed little things are big things.  To this end,  one of my most favorite things to do is to hunt for antique and unusual hardware and accessories for my clients’ homes.  There is a certain thrill in finding one of a kind pieces; they add an element of surprise that can make a home feel collected rather than staged.  This a crucial feel for my projects and, so, collecting has become paramount to my design process.

Recently I found these whimsical, brass, floral tiebacks.

I was drawn to the sculptural element of the leaves; they are sweet, but substantial.  I envision them as tiebacks on a canopy over a girl’s bed.  In the end, who knows where they’ll end up or how they will be used?  Maybe as an element of a piece of furniture I design. That’s the fun of it!  The options are limited only by our imaginations.

Really love this post, but that is only natural being that I’m a floral fanatic and love anything even remotely related to botany. Ha! But I agree, this would be perfect for a little girl’s room.
