Ode to Blue

Can you believe summer is almost over? I can’t let it pass without paying tribute to my favorite color, blue.

Here’s a snapshot of some of the small ways we bring summer’s blue skies and seas into our home.
I love that blue is so changeable; it can be happy, melancholy, sophisticated, or childlike.  What I love most is the calming effect it brings to our home.

Of course, it’s not as if blue disappears around these parts come September 22 (the first day of fall!).  But I do start layering it with autumnal colors.  And before we get to that point, it seems only right to give blue it’s due.

Can you give me an idea where I can find a plate rack like you have hanging on the wall in the pictures above?

    Thanks so much!

Love all the blues. My hydrangeas are the most wonderful color of blue right now. They look almost exactly like the ones in your picture.

My all time favorite color, I am always drawn to it in my home and closet. Love the gorgeous floats displayed on the mantle.

    Amy,

There is something so calming about blue. I’ve always loved it and even in my cottage garden, I try to find as many shades of blue in my flower selection as possible. Blue hydrangea are just one of the long list of outstanding shades of blue. How pretty they look on your table.

I know I am the odd man out since blue is not my favorite color. But these shades are so pretty I just might consider changing my mind.

  9. Totally agree! My favorite, too…we painted all the living areas in our new home a soft, soothing gray/blue and it’s such a great, neutral backdrop!
