San Diego Chamber of Commerce and Amy Meier Design

San Diego, CA March 16, 2010 – Amy Meier Design, the San Diego Designer Decorator established a new relationship with the San Diego Regional Chamber of Commerce, one of the most influential forces in local government and regional economic development.  As a more than 130 year old nonprofit business advocacy group, the Chamber of Commerce is actively involved in public policy in the region

Amy Meier Design, the San Diego Designer Decorator provides full residential design services with a focus on telling life stories through interiors.

“Your home should speak to you and about you,” San Diego interior designer Amy Meier says.  “It should tell a story about how you live, where you’ve been, and where you’re going.”  Meier pulls that story out of clients and then translates it onto the canvas of their home.  Slave to neither tradition nor trend, the residential decorator draws from both when appropriate.  And while her designs carry hallmarks of her style, such as striking fabrics in a mix of textures, they always bear the owner’s mark.  Amy Meier Design undertakes everything from paint consultations to staging services to complete structural overhauls of entire homes.

“Her touch is everywhere,” says client Abigail Cahill O’Brien, “and yet I never feel like I’m living in a space designed by or for someone else.”

This life story business may seem like heady stuff, but it’s based on a solid foundation of credentials and experience.  Meier’s career path started with a graduate degree at Parson’s School of Design and continued with a partnership stake at Catherine Interiors of Boston.  She moved to Del Mar in October and immediately opened the doors of Amy Meier Design.

Meier navigates and executes design projects large and small, from structural redesigns to one-room paint consultations. Between local trade professionals, custom furniture artisans in North Carolina, and design contacts in New York, Boston and beyond, she uses her wide geographic network to assemble the right team of experts for each project, and she manages the various talents through project completion.  This includes on-site supervision of deliveries and installations.

Having the artistic vision and the right team in place only gets interior designers so far.  Meier balances her creative bent with a vigorous work ethic and sound business practices.  In an industry where punctuality and fiscal discipline aren’t always part of the vocabulary, Meier insists those qualities are more important than ever. “Staying on-time and on budget shows my clients how much I care about the work.  It’s not about sacrificing quality, it’s about good communication and project management.”

On time and on budget?  That just might be music to many a renovation-weary home owners’ ears.
