Inspiration: Sewing Machines!

While in L.A.,  I spotted this fabulous window display made up of antique sewing machines.  How spectacular!

You may not know that I actually began my design career in fashion.  After earning my graduate degree from Parsons School of Design, I designed "cut  and sew knits" in the clothing industry.  The rigorous sewing training has given me a solid foundation in construction.  I love to push the envelope, whether it be window treatments, pillows, bedding, or upholstery.   Just think about how a pattern can be manipulated by cutting and sewing it into a paneled pillow.  Or perhaps how a patterned fabric could be cut out and appliqued around edge of a window treatment.  Or even how layering a  solid fabric and can create a textured pattern.  There are so many wonderful things you can do with a sewing machine!  Remember to think beyond the expected!
