Our New Place: Progress

Well, our boxes are pretty much packed and we’re moving this week!

Before I dive into our new space, I want to say thank you all for a fun weekend!  There was lots of interest in our window treatments. What fun it was to find a new home for the living room ikat treatments!  Now, if only I hadn’t accidentally deleted the email from the reader who wanted to buy the bedroom treatments!   Ugh, computers.  If you are reading this, please write me again!  (amy@amymeierdesign.com)

Our new space has great bones.  It just needs a little love.  Here are a few inspiration images I have bookmarked for this mini renovation.

When we saw the place I knew I wanted to transform it into our little seaside cottage.  I imagined white walls highlighted by sandy taupe, layered with gorgeous wood tones and nautical-inspired lighting and accessories.

My husband and I love all things blue.  So we chose a soft blue that will repeat throughout the space and will be highlighted with touches of navy (how could I not include my absolute favorite tone of blue!)

The green walls, ceiling AND carpet was a bit much for us...so the first thing to go was the paint color.

We decided to paint the walls and the tong and groove ceiling Mountain Peak White by Ben Moore. To bring depth to the space, we chose Waynesboro Taupe for the trim and beams.

I found this light out antiquing last year and could not think of a more perfect place to hang it than in our new dining room!  See?  It pays to hang on to those good finds.

I’m off to meet with my contractor right now.  Today the carpet is coming up and a new floor is going down!  Changing the floor can have a huge impact on a space.
