The Right Combination

Happy Monday!  To start off the week, I thought that I would give you a peek into a kitchen I recently designed.  When designing any space, I often rely on the good ol' wedding rule: something old, something new, something borrowed, something blue (well, I guess not everyone  is as big of a fan of blue as I am..so often times  blue doesn't make it into the space).

In this 1930's Spanish Bungalow gut job, I chose to ground the kitchen nook with a gorgeous Terra Antica stone.  This stunning stone has a natural variation that has hints of terracotta with out being overtly Spanish.  Atop this stone I chose to  pair a set of rattan chairs and a pedestal table.  To compliment the newness of these pieces, we used a gold gilt frame, "borrowed" from her mother and sourced fabulous vintage transfer-ware plates and wall brackets.   My framer then  mounted the 2 of them on chocolate linen.  I feel this combination of new and old makes a room feel cozy.  That's right, cozy.  I use the word way too much in my day to day vocabulary so I thought you all needed to hear it here in my blog.
