France Part I: Kathryn's Home
In June I made the trek to Kathryn Ireland's home outside of Toulouse, France, for a fabulous design retreat. Where to begin? There are few words that can really capture the trip, so I am hoping that the pictures will tell the story. And because there are just so many stories (and pictures) I am going to break this into installments. Up first: Kathryn's Home. But first, a few words:
Because of Toulouse's latitude and the time of year, it did not get dark until 11:30 pm, so our days were extremely long. Typically, our days began with Yoga, were filled with local markets (called "Brocantes"), and always concluded with fabulous meals at rotating locales throughout Kathryn's property. In between, there were generous allocations for leisurely napping, swimming, or reading. Rosé flowed like water each afternoon, and candle light dinners were promptly served at 10:00pm.
Me and our fabulous host! Candid , diligent, and relentlessly generous, Kathryn worked non-stop to ensure we had a fantastic time, and that for our time in France, her home was our home.
My accommodations: Dreamy to say the least!
The doors opened up to this.
Our Chef, Ithaca.
And the food... oh the food.
Tapas in the vegetable garden, my favorite meal.
Here's a shot of the whole crew in our temporary home:
More to come!
