Inspired By: barbara barry

Have you ever met someone and been instantly and completely moved? At the Design Bloggers Conference I got the chance to meet and listen to the one and only Barbara Barry.  Her presence is captivating, her spirit infectious, and her poetic words on beauty and design compel deep reflection.    It is far too easy to get lost in the minutiae of our routine.   Barbara reminds us to stop and reflect on beauty, to feel the joy and inspiration that hide behind the all the boxes we must check off of our incessant to-do lists.

What is it that makes us feel good and to really feel our designs in our hearts?   In her remarks, Barbara challenged us to focus on the passion that informs our choices, not necessarily the choices themselves.  Beauty, after all, can be found everywhere.

With grace and eloquence, Barbara shared what inspires her (apparent simplicity, nature... I can go on and on about this.  In fact,  I think I just might in another post!  Stay tuned.),  her passion for beauty, and the development of her unique voice.  She truly reminded me why I do what I do, why I love what I do.  It can seem laborious at times; I can occasionally feel overwhelmed.  Pause.  Reflect.  Remind myself.   Focus on what inspires and let that fuel my designs.
